Reviewing applicants and match scores
Where applications land, what the match score means, and how the pipeline works.
When talent applies to one of your roles, Migbirds does the first pass for you: every applicant arrives with a transparent match score you can drill into.
Where applicants appear
Each role has an Applicants tab listing everyone who applied, ranked by fit — the default sort is Best match (switch to Most recent or Stage anytime). A review bar lets you search by name, email or city and filter by stage, with live counts per stage. Recruiters and admins are notified in-app and by email when a new application arrives. There's also a company-wide Applicants page that lists every applicant across all of your roles in one place.
How the match score works
The combined percentage blends two axes:
- Technical — the candidate's environments, domains, and competencies compared to what the role requires.
- Behavioral — the candidate's assessment results compared to the behavioral demands of the role.
A verdict label (from low to excellent) summarizes the level at a glance. At an equal percentage, a candidate who completed the behavioral assessment ranks above one who hasn't. Advisory chips for seniority fit and compensation fit add context without changing the score.

- Executive summary — verdict, both sub-scores, and the key strengths and considerations.
- Technical skills — requirement-by-requirement comparison with gaps and strengths flagged.
- Behavioral dynamics — soft skills, adaptability, irritants, and group dynamics, each with the role's expected position overlaid.
- AI insights — an optional short narrative that synthesizes the technical and behavioral signals into plain language.
Rank with AI
With two or more applicants, the Rank with AI button gives you a triage suggestion: the top five to look at first, each with evidence-based reasons and amber watch-outs. It's advisory — it never moves anyone in your pipeline — and it uses your company's AI credits. A "Select top N" shortcut feeds the bulk actions below.
The pipeline
The Pipeline tab is a drag-and-drop board for moving applicants through stages: applied, shortlisted, interviewing, offered, and finally hired, rejected, or withdrawn. Cards show how long someone has been sitting in a stage (an amber badge appears past 7 days). You can select several applicants and move them together — with an optional "notify the candidates" checkbox — pin a team note to each candidate, and every stage change is recorded in a history timeline. On phones, the board becomes a stage-grouped list with a Move button per card. Moving someone to Interviewing offers to propose interview times right away — interviews run on Migbirds, video call included.
Names, contact details, and the marketplace agreement
Applicants stay anonymized (first name and last initial, no contact details) until a company admin accepts the Migbirds marketplace agreement — the standard terms for hiring through the platform. After acceptance, applicant profiles open for review; direct contact details unlock when you move someone to shortlisted or later, and moving them to rejected hides the details again.
What candidates are told
For newly created roles, candidates are notified of stage changes by default (you can turn this off per role — candidates then simply see their application as submitted). When you reject someone with notifications on, you can let the AI draft a kind, personalized rejection message — you review and edit it before anything is sent, and it never mentions scores or assessment data.
